Enjoy tasty traditional British tea treats such as tarts, scones, finger sandwiches, and cakes and beverages. You will be treated from popular Gilbert and Sullivan operas, including The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance, and HMS Pinafore. This benefit concert will feature raffle prize drawings to add to the fun. Raffle prizes include a two-night stay at a mountain cabin above Donner Lake, dinner and tickets to local performing arts groups' performances, and much more. Epilogue: the fundraiser was a great success. We sold around 170 tickets, far more than we had planned on. The performance went great, the audience loved the music, and we sold lots of raffle tickets. Everyone raved about the food too. A local arts critic came to review the performance and we are awaiting the review, which should appear in the Independent soon. Click here to learn about ordering tickets.
This is the fourth year we are hosting the event for the community, which has quickly become a holiday tradition for the region. Become a part of this tradition! Sing Part I of Handel's Messiah, including the popular Hallelujah Chorus. Singers and music lovers of all ages and abilities are welcome to join in experiencing Handel's spectacular choral masterpiece. Sing, or just come to enjoy. Bring a score or borrow one for the evening. We will be accompanied by VCC's concert pianist Daniel Glover, plus four outstanding professional soloists. Admission is $10. Click here to learn about ordering tickets. Epilogue: Our sing-it-yourself Messiah was a resounding success. We had exceptional performances from all the soloists, with one particularly enthralling performance of "Comfort Ye" by tenor Brian Thorsett. You can see some photographs that Bill Leach took during the performance.
VCC's own accompanist and internationally known concert pianist, Daniel Glover, will share his masterful talent at the piano in this annual benefit concert for the chorale. Click here to learn about ordering tickets. Coming Soon
We will perform Mozart's powerful and moving choral masterpiece Requiem, accompanied by orchestra and professional soloists. Our last performance of the Requiem in 2002 was a great success, so we are glad to be able to give you this music again. You can hear some selections from that performance, including Requiem Aeternam and Dies Irae. This year we will be joined by the Las Positas Chamber Choir and San Francisco Concert Chorale for this Bankhead Theater "first". Tickets are available only through the Bankhead Theater box office at (925) 373-6800, or online at the Bankhead Theater's web site. Future VCC Events
